Luluk Widiawati, S.PdI. had the courage to get out of her comfort zone using numeracy media to make it easier for her students to grasp math lessons. “My purpose is how to make children understand what we explain more quickly. So they don’t just imagine it but the can directly practice it,” explained the teacher of MI Tanwirul Afkar, Puri, Mojokerto District.

Luluk’s statement, who is one of the numeracy district facilitators for the collaboration between LP Maarif NU East Java and INOVASI, shows the importance of the role of learning media in helping students to obtain maximum results. The existence of learning media that makes the learning atmosphere, condition and environment more comfortable will increase students’ motivation and affect their cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. As initiated by Luluk through a medium called Ten Framel Flannel.

Being in contact with the numeracy program from September 2021 to March 2022 made this teacher of MI Tanwirul Afkar create media made from flannel. Luluk and two of her institute colleagues participated in a training consisted of five presentations and one mentoring session which then motivated them to be creative. Evidently, the media made by Luluk are able to increase interest in learning and make the learning atmosphere more comfortable. Ten Framel Flanel is the embodiment of a 10 frame but made more attractive by making frames made of flannel. Students can more easily use the media and it is more interesting. “If the objects we make as props are interesting, children will learn more happily and comfortably,” said Luluk.

Before using the media, Luluk conducted a pre-test and post-test for the 23 students she taught. And after using the media, Luluk did a post-test, in which the post-test results showed better scores than the pre-test. In addition to giving motivation, it can also improve the learning outcomes of her students.
