Training for District Facilitators for the preparation of RKJM, RKT, and RKAS was again held in East Sumba District, East Nusa Tenggara on 4-6 August 2022. The three documents were prepared based on the School Self-Evaluation (Evaluasi Diri Sekolah/EDS) using a simple instrument developed by INOVASI. The activity, facilitated by INOVASI through four trained district facilitators, was attended by 15 Community/Cluster Facilitators who are educators and educational staffs who had been selected by the Principal’s Working Group of Pandawai Sub-district.

The purpose of organizing this activity is to compile an Education Unit Profile that is adjusted to the level of achievement contained in the Minimum Service Standards and National Education Standards, as well as to map and prepare for accreditation; understand the benefits of periodic evaluation of the quality of education in each school based on the results of RKJM achievements; and facilitate and assist education units in preparing RKJM, RKT, and RKAS to be inputted into the RKAS Application (ARKAS) and ARKAS Management (MARKAS).

This initiative was the result of a school principals meeting in Pandawai Sub-district. They agreed that efforts to improve the quality of learning must be well planned and budgeted. This is done by ensuring that programs and budgets for teachers’ Continuing Professional Development – in the form of Cluster Teacher Working Groups and Mini KKGs at schools, are available in the ARKAS and MARKAS systems.

Head of the East Sumba Education Office Task Executor, Erwin Pasande, who had the opportunity to attend the training preparation on August 3, said, “The pattern of approach through community/cluster facilitators is very good and the EDS-based RKJM, RKT, RKAS preparation approach needs to be disseminated immediately.” His office is willing to issue a letter requiring all schools to carry out the same activities in communities/clusters in each sub-district in East Sumba by utilizing the facilitators who will be trained in the training. “Regarding financing, it can be taken from the School Operations Fund,” he added.

One of the participants, Daniel Mila, admitted that after attending the training, he understood the benefits of periodically evaluating the quality of education in schools and using the education quality report card as data for School Self-Evaluation (EDS) analysis, which is then used for the preparation of the Education Unit Profile. “We can plan and improve the quality of education through School Operations Fund gradually as outlined in the RKJM, RKT and RKAS (ARKAS-MARKAS),” said Daniel.
