INOVASI is a flagship partnership program between the Australian and Indonesian Governments. When INOVASI began, in 2016, Indonesian Student Competency Assessment (AKSI) results showed that nearly half (47%) of students did not meet expected reading levels, while an alarming two thirds (77%) underperformed in mathematics. Since then, while improvements have been made to curriculum, assessment and teacher training, Indonesia suffered from nearly two years of school closures and learning loss during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
In this third phase, INOVASI has an increased focus on bridging the gaps that exist between national policies and implementation at district and school levels, and strengthening the district education ecosystem. INOVASI End-of‑Program Outcome is by 2031, inclusive education policies and practices will be developed and implemented to enhance foundational skills for all primary students, including children with disabilities.
