The INOVASI North Kalimantan team presented the results of the School-Based Mapping (PBS) to the Regent of Bulungan on 20 September 2024. The meeting aimed to recommend support for children with special needs (ABK) in Bulungan Regency, ensuring they can grow and learn optimally. The Regent highly appreciated the clear and comprehensive data presentation, particularly as it had been mapped based on functional disabilities and district distribution. He expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to the Inclusive Education Task Force of Bulungan Regency and INOVASI for their strategic work since 2023.
In his directives, the Regent asked the Head of the Bulungan Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) to promptly follow up with the relevant government agencies to take necessary actions to support ABK. Should the funding from these agencies and other partners be insufficient, the Bulungan Government is prepared to consider a dedicated budget allocation through the 2025 Regional Budget (APBD).
The event was attended by 21 participants, including the Assistant for Welfare Affairs (Assistant 2), the Head of Bappeda, the Head of Bulungan’s Education Office, representatives from the Inclusive Education Task Force, as well as representatives from the Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP), Teacher Training Centre (BGP), and the SKALA program.
This concrete action demonstrates Bulungan Regency’s commitment to enhancing the quality of inclusive education, particularly for children with special needs in the region.
