Maluku
Imagine hundreds of islands in Maluku scattered across the Banda Sea, where transportation is difficult and many schools are isolated.
This 46,914 km² province is known as the “Land of Kings” with its strong traditions. Despite its rich spices and fisheries, access to books and qualified teachers remains challenging. Climate change—unpredictable weather and rising sea levels—is reducing education services. The 2025 Education Report Card recorded that only 49.5% of elementary school students and 36.2% of madrasah students achieved minimum literacy standards.
INNOVATION Phase 3 is a partnership between Australia and Indonesia to help the government change this reality.
Our focus:
- Teaching Reinforcement
Through the Teacher Working Group (KKG), teachers are trained to design teaching materials based on local culture and use learning methods that suit students’ abilities. - School Leadership
The Instructional Leadership Program equips principals and supervisors with academic supervision, management, and teacher mentoring skills. - Mother Tongue Transition
INOVASI facilitates the use of regional languages as a bridge before switching to Indonesian. - Climate Resilience
Promote understanding of the impacts of climate change and its integration into the curriculum and student projects.
With a collaborative and contextual approach, INOVASI strengthens the foundations of literacy, inclusion, and educational leadership in Maluku.
