The Innovation for Indonesia’s School Children (INOVASI) Program is a partnership between the governments of Australia and Indonesia. Working directly with Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture, INOVASI is seeking to understand how student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy can be improved in diverse primary schools and districts across Indonesia. INOVASI is working in a range of locations across Indonesia, including West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), North Kalimantan, and East Java.
Through partnerships with these four provinces, INOVASI and each local government assist teachers, principals, and supervisors at the cluster level through strengthening the Teachers Working Group. Each district/city carries out an INOVASI pilot that focuses on strengthening education quality in accordance with the problems faced in each district/city – looking for local solutions, for local problems. Since July 2018, INOVASI has begun a new partnership program with 18 NGOs and educational organizations in Indonesia to support the program’s achievements, namely realizing changes in literacy, numeracy and inclusive education.
